Caroline at 5 months

Caroline's 5 month mark happened the week of Thanksgiving- that's my only excuse for this being a week and a half late.  We'll just have to see how the next one goes (Christmas Day... right).

Caroline is so sweet and she's a typically happy baby.  Her favorite thing right now is to play with her toy gym (I should have gotten a picture, but didn't).  It's so fun to watch her intentionally reach for things now and she loves to grab onto anything and everything.  She has also started sucking on everything but is especially partial to her fingers- they're just so convenient.  She still sleeps really well and will usually sleep for a 10 hour stretch.   Her head control is great now and she does well in the bumbo, but she doesn't like to lift up her head when she's on her tummy- she's started putting her bum in the air instead.  She has mostly figured out how to use her voice and will often carry on very sweet little conversations of random noises and coos.  She is still our little one and is still comfortably in 0-3 month clothes, although for the sake of the weather she sometimes drowns in 3-6 months outfits.   She has a bit of a flat spot on the back-right side of her head because she always sleeps with her head turned the same way, so we've been trying to lay her down with her head the other way so she'll have a nice round head- it's only mildly successful.  She's something of an escape artist and somehow manages to get out of her socks no matter what I do to keep them on- and has even managed to get her socks off even when I put footy pajamas on over them.  We still swaddle her when she sleeps but I think those days need to come to an end soon- even though she un-swaddles herself whenever she wants.
She is such a cute cute kid- and I'm not the only one that thinks so :)
We love our sweet little Caroline!

I was trying to get a picture of her smiling, but the flash on the camera was just too mesmerizing.

Happy Halloween!

Caroline's sweet Halloween mohawk.
We actually had Caroline in a Pumpkin outfit at the trunk or treat, but we went to a BYU volleyball game and so we went for blue and white,  There weren't very many people at the game which was perfect and meant that we had good seats and it meant that Cosmo could spend a good 2-3 minutes holding Caroline.

Caroline at 4 months.

Like most babies, immunizations don't treat her very well.  She was kind of grumpy, but still allowed me to take a few pictures.  Forgive her for not looking very chipper.

Here are the stats from her check-up this morning:
Weight: 10 lb 1 oz (0%)
Height: 22 1/2 in (1 %)
Head: 15 1/4 in (10%)

She's our little cutie-pie.

Aside from being on the smaller end of the scale she's doing wonderfully.
She's started laughing more and will babble on and on sometimes.
She's starting to play with toys and has a good grip.
She still can't really hold her head up with tummy-time, but we'll get there someday.
She will usually sleep through the night, although sometimes she likes to surprise me.
She sticks her tongue out all the time.
She loves having her diaper changed- especially in the morning.
She still loves to play on the floor and has started squirming enough that she is often in a slightly different place from where I laid her down.
She still likes bath-time although she is getting a little too big for the bathroom sink.

It seems like she is growing and changing every day.  She is such a beautiful little girl.

We bought a zoo...

... okay it's technically a house.

As of Wednesday, October 23rd at 4:50 pm we are home owners....

.... and it's gonna be a lot of work.

Thank goodness for wonderful parents who are willing to drive across the country to spend countless hours cleaning and repairing this mess of a house.

We are really looking forward to moving above ground and having our own yard.  Even if it is full of weeds.

Here's a small sampling of the mess we've gotten ourselves into:

These are the worst pictures :)

Caroline at 3 months.

This beautiful girl has been slightly less stingy with her smiles lately, although they're still not exactly handed out freely.  Every once in a while she'll let out what sounds like it could almost be a laugh- or she just gasping for air- who knows.
She will usually sleep for at least one 6+ hour stretch at night.
She recently has decided that she loves the swing and seems to fall asleep in it at least once a day.
She accidentally rolled from her back onto her side one day. I say accidentally because it hasn't been repeated.
She makes lots of cute cooing noises and is experimenting with the whole voice box thing.
She doesn't love tummy time, but is getting a little bit better with her head control and she doesn't just lay there with her nose smashed into the ground anymore.

Here she is enjoying the swing- it's kind of squeaky.

August Fun

Starting her young- we took Caroline to a pre-season scrimmage for BYU.  She's already learning the fight song- here she is doing the "rah-rah-rah-rah-rah! gooooooo cougars!"  Now we just need to get her some BYU garb.

This is what happens when I let dad get her dressed. Okay, maybe not every time.

One of her very cute faces.
(To dispel any question- she is on Jared's lap. Even while I was pregnant my legs never got quite that hairy.)

Jared's sweet new ride.... he wishes!

We make our kid feed herself.

Caroline at 2 months.

Our little one is really little.  Here are her stats:

Weight: 8 lb 5 oz (0%)
Height: 20.25 in (0%)
Head: 14.3 in (5%)

The doctor says she's growing wonderfully though and we have confidence that someday she'll be on the charts in height and weight and not just in her head.

At the doctors office we learned that she's right on track with developmental stuff
- she can follow things with her eyes
- she lifts her head up on her own
- she coos and "talks"
- etc. etc.
Also at the doctors office she got lots of shots and has been fairly miserable since then.

Caroline really loves lying on the floor and if there is a fan she will stare for a good long time.  After she's done staring she'll work on "kick-starting her motorcycle."  She does this pretty much anytime we lay her down and I think it's pretty cute since it really does look like she's trying to start a motorcycle.

She has some really really cute smiles but they're still pretty randomly given.  I think we're pretty close to getting them in response to our goofy faces.
Someone that I worked with at the temple gave me this super cute personalized blanket.
