It was a miracle. The four gals were able to make it to Houston flying standby on the same day. Not completely without mishap (sorry, Em)- but we all made it!
The first evening was full of tears brought by laughter and sleep deprivation. Adam fed us a nice dinner, gave us a tour of his house and then we were off to Galveston- hoping to hit a break in the terrible weather. We even had a nice tornado warning go off around 3 am.
We made it to the hotel- victory high fives! Did I mention we were all really sleepy? |
We had one glorious day of lazily wandering and exploring as much or as little as we wanted. It was nice to be with my sisters who are all as budget conscious as I am... read: cheap. We ate ice cream on the gulf, went on a dolphin sighting boat ride, played a few games, stopped in a few tourist trap stores, and tried not to worry about what was going on at home.
We'd planned for a nice leisurely morning at the hotel- alas, standby flights didn't cooperate and we headed out for the airport at the crack of dawn and were all on our way to our respective homes by about 10:00 am.
It was a blast. I'm so glad we were able to do it. Glad my sisters wanted to do it. Glad Adam was willing to get us there. Glad it was a memorable experience. I hope it's not too long before we can make it happen again!
